LEG 2 AND 3 RUNNERS – YOU’RE IN FOR A TREAT AT THE LAYCOCK VILLAGE HALL WHERE THERE ARE A SELECTION OF THE MOST DELICIOUS HOMEMADE CAKES, SANDWICHES ETC,  AND TEA AND COFFEE  ON SALE:      FROM MIKE MOSS:   Also for leg 2 and 3 runners Laycock Village Hall will run a tea room from 08:30 until about 12.  Bacon rolls from 8:30, cakes to follow. Please encourage your members to make use of this. We have always been made very welcome in Laycock despite the minor issues we always have with parking and this gives something back to the community.

LEG 1 RUNNERS:  Please note that the altered route at the end of leg 1 used last year will be used again this year. It will be signed but as you leave Oxenhope you stay on the road all the way up the hill to Marsh Lane and then turn right on Marsh Lane and on to rejoin the route as it takes a footpath on the left to Penistone Hill.

Please make sure that all your team members are aware of the team number (27) and that they have to register and pick up their numbers at the start of each leg. We are not specifying that you must carry body cover but would recommend that your runners consider the conditions and carry whatever is appropriate. We do recommend carrying water if the day should be warm. There will be at least one water station on each leg but that will not necessarily be half way and at the finish of the leg.

There are cut off times at the start of each leg and all remaining teams will be set off on that cut off. Please make sure your team are aware of the cut offs.

No allowance will be made for teams not ready at the cut off or when their team arrives.

The race starts at 8am and registration opens from 7am at the Bradford & Bingley Sports Club, Wagon Lane, Bingley. Please ensure you have registered by 7:45am to allow time to get to the start.

The cut off for all remaining teams will be

Start Leg 2 10:00 am             Start Leg 3 11:15 am             Start leg 4 12:30 am           Start leg 5 1:45 pm

Please ask your runners to obey the Country Code and to make sure they close any gates that they open and follow the course accurately. Cutting corners may save time but can annoy land owners and could jeopardise future running of the event.

Each pairing should run the leg together as we expect them to support each other. The time will only be taken when the second runner crosses the finish line. In the event of injury during the race please ensure the safety of the injured athlete and ask another team to pass a message to the nearest marshal. We will allow teams to finish if a runner is injured but penalties will be applied.

There are a number of road crossings on the course and we do ask that you take utmost care. We will be attempting to marshal the worst crossings but probably will be unable to manage all of them.

Please return your team registration sheets to the start before 7.45am on 25th June. If you could email the information in advance please email the completed list below to  mikemoss@blueyonder.co.uk.

This year there will be a dedicated first aid team at all changeovers and where possible at the drinks stations. They have requested that we are informed of any pre-existing conditions for any of the athletes so if you could note this on the registration sheets that would be helpful. In addition can we ask that any athletes with pre-existing conditions mark their number with a red cross on the front and write the details on the back of their race number.
